Curators: Angelika Kallenbach & Elias Maya
This portfolio highlights the extraordinary artistic collaboration that took place during Museumsnacht Koblenz 2024, a night dedicated to the exploration of art, culture, and innovation. Invited by esteemed curators Angelika Kallenbach and Elias Maya, the Italian light artist Nino Alfieri and German composer and laser harp musician Frank von Häfen combined their creative visions for a truly immersive, sensory experience.
The Concept:
This performance was built on the seamless integration of two unique art forms—Nino Alfieri’s photo-reactive canvases, which respond dynamically to light, and Frank von Häfen’s laser harp compositions. Each piece of artwork was brought to life through an intricate dance of light and sound, creating a space that allowed attendees to experience art that shifts and evolves with each interaction.
The Performance:
Throughout the evening, performances took place every half hour, allowing the audience multiple opportunities to witness this ephemeral duet. Each session was unique, reflecting the transient beauty of the artwork and music as they harmonized in real time. Frank’s laser harp paid homage to Space Age music of the 1970s, with soundscapes that mirrored the futuristic ambiance of Nino’s vivid light artistry. Together, they transformed the gallery space into an interactive installation that captivated and connected with the viewers on an emotional and sensory level.
Highlights:
- Cross-Cultural Collaboration: The fusion of Italian and German artistic approaches exemplified the power of cross-cultural dialogue and exchange.
- Innovative Art Forms: The combination of laser harp music and light-reactive canvases showcased how modern technology can expand the boundaries of traditional art.
- Audience Engagement: The interactive nature of the performance allowed viewers to experience the art in a way that was both personal and communal.
